Watching this currently on the net.
They have moved the comp to Coolongatta Beach.
Looks like some pretty decent waves on offer, with the effects of the cyclone giving a bit of size... go you aussies.

Washing machine .com.

Hows that Rip, sweep.??!!!
that would be the worst to have a comp in.

The Frog

Would be worse if they didn't have the jetski to take them back out after each wave.

Love the Pro Tour online. A sporting event that doesn't suit TV, goes for daaayys, can't pick when the waves are on or when someones going to catch one.
Have Quicktime Player in the background while I do stuff on 'puter, click over when someone gets a wave.
10 events through the year, Quicksilver's the first.
Only the finals left. Tommorrow?

Taj gets through in the last second! After trailing the whole heat.

Swell will be even bigger tomorrow but with the cyclone moving SE the southerly flow might clean it up a touch although it will still be very windy. Should be good to watch wherever they choose. I'd say Greenmount might be the go.

The first semi has just started, between Parko & Mick Fanning.
They have moved up to Kirra.
It looks pretty stormy with fairly larges waves on offer.

I must not know much about surfing cos how did that look better than the 7 point ride from de Souza?
Spend about the same time in the tube

Excuse my ignorance

Excuse my ignorance The take off was more critical. Also it was a bit chunkier and cleaner on exit.
But if i was scoring 9.

popshuvit

and he was pretty deep inside the wave as well

Late.. late takeoff, landed on the foam ball and couldn't be deeper in that tube, great exit, shoulda lost a point for the lame air. In comparison De Souza's was just a head dip.

Parko No.1!

When your rebuilding the muscle, I would think surfing will be a great strengthening exercise and you will have to do it at least three days a week. ;)
But buy a longboard so you don't work it to hard. Should be starting to get movement soon, did it get better through the day?

The Frog

Parko's take off was insane, full drop into a HUGE barrel. I would have said 9 though. They seem to give out waaaay too many 10s these days. I remember seeing the very first comp 10 when Derek Ho got abouta 5-6 second deep barrel at Pipe in the 80s....that would have been a 12-13 compared to todays 10s.

I think they gave Larry Blair a 10 at Queenscliff for his most awesome barrel in winning the 78? surfabout

The Frog
11-03-2009, 09:54 PM
yeah the Surfabout at North Steyne riding the lefts that was, against the late Wayne Lynch...was a bit before my time but I have seen footage. Blairs 10 was about 7 seconds inside the barrel.

i already got a few longboards its the short boards that need replacing/repair my fav board is currently held together by a steel bar and sme wide gaff tape :D still rides ok snapp is about a foot back from nose so only really notice it when duck diving or steep take offs.

As for the shoulder i have 1 exercise to do till i geet out of the sling no physio till then. then i go from there but from the post op report i wont be in the water for a few monts atleast :(

im actually plannin on getting a paddle board (clubby style) for fitness and strengthening work so will put it to good use through rehab period id imagine

I was just a kid when Blair won that Coca Cola Surfabout comp and remember watching that wave... very cool but geez he was a tosser... He had a very large ego from memory and let everyone know it. My mate was his nephew or cousin or something like that and I remember going out to his pad in Coogee and just seeing boards everywhere... I was about 10 at the time...
