Yesterday Johnny Strange (real name) arrived in Thredbo to complete the 7 summits, he walked to Eagles Nest but decided not to continue on alone in the poor conditions, he will attempt again today with Phillip ? who lives in Thredbo and knows the track.

The Seven Summits is a competed by people under 18 to be the youngest person to do it.

When completed Johnny Strange will have won and raised awareness for Parkinsons Desease, which is all he set out to do.

He is in the shop now reading how he has been miss quoted on the Parkinsons web site. They have gone on how he did it for the money, it was a competition to raise awareness that later turned into a fundraiser.

He never set out to break any records, but he will.

What are the 7 summits you refer to?

If Johnny bailed on climbing Kosci because of the weather, and needs someone to show him the way, I'm guessing the others may take a bit of time...

But I wish him well for his attempts! Godspeed!

Kilimanjaro - Africa
Denali - Nth America
Elbrus - Europe
Aconcagua - Sth America
Carstensz Pyramid - Oceania
Vinson - Antartica
Everest - Asia

Depending on if you define Australia or Oceania as a continent, Mount Kosciuszko could be one of the 7 summits, so people tend to do both Carstensz Pyramid and Kosciuszko just in case

I read somewhere that he had done all the others.

He has done all the others, started when he was 12 and it's taken 5 years.
Carstensz Pyramid is next on the list just so he can make sure the record is undisputed.

Kosciuszko is a bump compared to the rest

he could run up and back after doing all the rest. is it me or is Kosci(don't get me wrong, i love that mountain) a bit of an anti climax to finish such an achievment on?

Ooops, I didn't realise he had already done the others...

Kosci may be just a pimple on the ar$e of the others, but it'd probably be the one I'd finish on, just to complete it when I choose and then have a big party in Thredbo! Not many of the others have a town like Thredders at the base...

People die out there remember. In the wrong weather it is just as dangerous especially when so many are complacent because it is so small.
