Question! I have a phone line into my house, but I don't have it connected. Do I need to connect the phone line to get ADSL? Or am I limited to naked ADSL?

I am using cable atm btw and I am tossing up between iinet and TPG

I'm pretty sure you need an active phoneline for ADSL Karen smile.gif

yep, active for adsl, dead for ndsl.

Check Internode's NDSL plans as well.

Check Internode's NDSL plans as well. I just did, and they seem way more expensive than iinet and tpg

Well node will not be the cheapest isp (they dont aim to be), they are though one of the most reliable ISP's and is the ISP I advise people go with.

I have been with node for over 5 yrs now and have never muttered a bad word against them the entire time. TEch support for the 3 times I have needed it has been great...they actually have staff that know about computers.

Also Simon Hackett (the CEO) is often seen on whirlpool.net.au posting in their forums and talking to us plebs.
They are an example of a great aussie company that is doing its bit to make broadband available in areas that other telco ignore.
I would always suggest going to whirlpool and checking their forums (its also known as whingepool due to the fact its where nerds go to b!tch about their ISP's).

Another Nodie here, and recommend them to all my Customers, they have super good support when needed(not often) and are always being proactive with keeping their gear in tip top shape

Yep Internode for three years now and never missed a beat. Before that with Bigpoo and it was an absolute joke. 35 minute wait for tech support because my internet constantly kept dropping out did me in.

kaz im with tpg on naked..

but to have naked you need to connect a phone line first thougth telstra which they then disconnect... seems so retarded but thats how it goes..

was heaps cheaper than the rest and i have had no probs so far.
