J1 is a cert to drag her laptop to the snow this school hols and I was thinking of getting a pre-paid broadband moden/doongle thing so she could gain some net access.
However, I can't work out from telstra's stupidly cluttered web pages whether there's mobile broadband coverage for a laptop at perisher.
Anyone used it? or are there better/cheaper alternatives than smelstra? (given its regional oz)

Don't by telstra. They charge $$$$ by the mb the most expensive one around. get 3 or dodo. Best for value atm.

There is no fast mobile dongeldewgal thiingy at the snow, it goes to dial up speed. Best bet is to buy wireless time with airlan or something like that.

I would look at the Virgin pre paid broadband, it seems the cheapest atm and they use the Optus network for coverage.

Telstra is the best in my opinion if you need it. I've had mobile broadband for 4 years, and Telstra is the only networ that covers. I've even hiked to Kosci with a laptop and yes it works all the way! (Don't ask why I had it, I was on call for work tongue.gif )
3 is fine in the city, mostly. It ****s in blackspots.
Telstra is the most expensive though. But if you need it, then the cost is justified. Can even get it prepaid now! So you needn't worry about going over.
I stayed at Perisher last year and never had a problem gaining access with my telstra modem.

thanks troops!
all great info. The virgin broadband one looks a reasonable deal - given they use optless I'll go compare virgin, optless and smelstra and see who comes up the goods! It

What about an "in-between" place like Pender Lea?
