I hear that Day 2 could be a total washout :(

Damn it, as we couldn't play as bad as we did in the first two sessions.

these wickets seem to be all like adelaide - so placid for the first few days at least.

Middo
17-07-2009, 09:22 AM
The Poms will do anything to get 5 days of Cricket at their pathetically small venues. 5 days in Cardiff wouldn't have totalled the Day 1 crowd at the MCG.

good point middo, although i would have thought they would benefit from a pitch that did something, rather than a pitch that plays like some australian wickets. a risky strategy for them.

Haddin dropped a lot of balls on the first day...3 come to mind.

He really needs to work on his glove work.

Middo

So much for the rain

Anyway, two quick wickets and England's 0-196 and miles on top is now 8-370 and looking very ordinary.

hahahahaha

Middo

9-378 poor ol' England.

Edit: 9-405 recovery from the tail and Australia's bowlers losing the battle again.

Ordinary field set by Ponting (not the first time)

Ponting GOOOOOOOORNE!

Middo
17-07-2009, 10:43 PM
Ponting wants another record.

He's done the Ashes loss in England.

Beaten Seth Efrica in Seth Efrica.

Beaten the Indians.

But never been the only Australian Captain to lose at Lords since 1934.

:D

8-150 odd at stumps.

Big trouble for the Aussies. Hope we are enforced to follow-on, do to the poms what India did to us a few years back.

powderhog

Maybe time to employ some time wasting and give the Poms a taste of their own medicine.

Middo
18-07-2009, 09:35 AM
Can we waste time for 3 days though? :D

No excuses....we are just playing poorly against a team rated No.5 in Tests.

If we are forced to follow on and get a good score, we at least won't have to bat last. But are our bowlers good enough to get 10 wickets again in a short time?

powderhog
18-07-2009, 09:44 AM
Maybe we should bring Warne back tongue.gif

chunky
18-07-2009, 10:36 AM
He could walk into the side on his bowling merits still. Sadly that shows just how good our next line of spin bowlers are.

Credit where credit is due.......poorly played Australia.

strauss is the worst excuse for a cricketer ever. Even under 12s know not to claim a catch you didn't take.

England now don't deserve to win this test, and they want to think if strauss is the guy they want to represent english cricket.

slipper82
20-07-2009, 09:41 AM
3 wickets last were given out which were clearly not.

I hope Australia draw or win this match now to stick it up them!

Stick it up em aussies. Big chance of pulling off a win now

I am not going to whinge about the below ordinary umpiring of Day 4.

C'mon England! Just 4 more wickets.

Yes, England kept all the real heavy crims there and sent the petty crims here.

Flintoff's celebrations make him look like a flog.

So much for celebrating with your team...getting down on one knee is very 'look at me.'

Everyone went to easily last night.

Umpiring might have been crap but England still deserved to win that game. Then again Australia deserved to win the first game with the only thing saving England a few sessions of play lost to rain.

Funny how when a team is on to of the world all the luck goes there way, suddenly that team becomes beatable again and the luck goes out the door with the lack of form!

Podlettte
21-07-2009, 01:37 PM
It's all ponting's fault!

powderhog
21-07-2009, 03:16 PM
You are quite on the money there Pods. Game one was a draw due to bad captaincy. He needed to declare earlier. We still had a whole nuther innings if we needed it.

Podlettte
21-07-2009, 04:32 PM
I was joining the bandwagon I've been hearing around the office, I only watched about an hour of it of the previous match.

DHS
21-07-2009, 04:48 PM
It's pontings fault because he didn't even give Katich one over. His wrist spin is what we need. Especially when Hauritz is a second rate bowler at best.

chunky
21-07-2009, 07:35 PM
You do realise if Hauritz takes one more wicket he will only one of 4 offies to have taken that many in almost a century of cricket over there. He is also up at the top of the wicket tally for the two tests for the Aussie bowlers. Not the greatest fan of him but he has done what has been asked of him.

BlueHue
21-07-2009, 08:45 PM
Yeh I'd have to agree. I don't think much more could have been expected of him in the circumstances. If what Hauritz has done does not justify him being in the team I think its more of a selection issue than Hauritz not doing what could be realistically expected of him for the type of bowler he is.

Siddle and particularly Johnsons form has been well down on what they produced in Sth Africa and I think is a major reason why Australia has struggled to get enough wickets to win the tests so far. Johnson usually gets better with more bowling so lets hope he picks up as the tour goes on and hits his best form again soon.

chunky
21-07-2009, 09:08 PM
Once again I think their preparation for this Ashes series has been deficient with very few lead in games. The 20/20 clashed with the scheduling of what could have been more 4 day games.

The Frog
21-07-2009, 11:45 PM
Johnson's action has changed. Since he started moving the ball back in over in south africa his arm has started to fall away (not go up as high as before). He's much more of a slinger now than he was and it's harder to control.

England have been scoring far to quickly which is why Stuart Clark should be in the side bowling to tie down and end and frustrate them.

BlueHue
21-07-2009, 11:59 PM
I was surprised they did not find room for Clark to start with!

The Frog
22-07-2009, 12:20 AM
me too, just look at his test record, he has it all over the others.
