just herd that the chinese restaurant has been evicted from the old shops!!!
After 19 years!
Jindabyne with out a local chinese shop is said to be taken off the map by the government.
To qualify as a "town" you have to have a chinese restaurant!

so there are no chinese restaurants in jindy any more?
it wont be like that for long, a town cant go very long without a chinese restaurant.
maybe a nice thai place will move in
I love thai food
Karen, did you try the San Chan Bow Wow???

I love chinese, but only ate there once in 20 years of visiting the town! shocking place, rent hike may have been to force them out, thredbo seemed to do a similar thing to a retailer a few years ago.
TC there is a thai, out at snowline

what has the fact of the chinese shutting down have to do with an influx of ferrals? :scratches head:
and fonc, to call it an "eviction" when it sounds like a simple failure to negotiate a new lease is a bit melodramatic don't you think?

Sarcasm Polaris.
You know the ferral animals were culled by the china shop to make dim sum..
Shop closed now who's gonna put cats n dogs on the tables of Jindabyne?

Actually Chunky, it wouldn't be the first!!!
There used to be a Denny's on Sydney Road in Thomastown (Melb).
Its a pity you can't use the great name of a place in Heathmont - Shat Inn.

Is it still open?? I'm guessing not. The one in Melbourne closed a long time ago... no idea why.
In a previous life I spent a lot of time in Melb. on weekends and we always used to have brekky there on the way home!!!

I've been going down for over 10 years and I think I may have eaten there once in my entire life or it could have been to meet some friends who were having dinner there. I can't remember.

graemlins/outtahere.gif Samuels pretty much evolved out of Jindabyne. Anyone remember Gringos (mexican) in LJH. It left Jindy for Thirroul and 4 years ago was transformed into Samuels.

Just found out that this thread has a false premise!!!
The Chinese Restaurant is not closing, it's just getting new owners.
Info from a neighbouring shop holder who had just bought Chinese takeway... which prompted me to ask them about the shop closing.
